Roger Whittaker Tribute EP

Disillusioned Fool

Raindrops are falling from my windows teardrops are falling from my eyes
Memories keep creeping through the shadows of my mind, thoughts of love
And thoughts of all those lies you told me
I think of the time when we were children hand in hand we'd wander home from school
But those times are lost and gone forever leaving me the disillusioned fool

I'm a disillusioned fool for loving you you're locked up in my mind
No matter how I try or where I go or what I do
Just when I think I've met someone the past is over, finished, done
I remember the things we used to do together I remember calling you my own
I remember kissing you and holding your hand now I'm remembering alone

Raindrops are falling from my windows
Indistinct impressions of a girl I used to know
Games and swings and funny things we did so long ago
I remember kissing you and holding your hand now I'm remembering alone

Indian Lady

Duskied, dark eyed lady I see you once more
Dancing through a candle flame a rainbow around your door
The wind would always sing for you the stars would paint the sky
This I will remember and the sadness in your eye
So now it's goodbye, Indian lady so long, Indian child
Goodbye, Indian lady I loved you for a while

Together we made poetry of love and life so blind
Without the other people in space and beyond time
We laughed together in the moon running hand in hand
We swam together naked in the waters of your land
But now it's goodbye, Indian lady so long Indian child
Goodbye, Indian lady I loved you for a while

We climbed up to the heavens where the mountains call your name
In virgin pastures, green and gold I loved you once again
But now all that's behind us the road moves in a wrong
So someday when you're dreaming you'd still may hear our song
So now it's goodbye, Indian lady so long Indian child
Goodbye, Indian lady I loved you for a while

My Land Is Kenya

You only got one mama you only got one pa
You only got one life to live no matter who you are
You can go the whole world over every city has its dawn
But everybody liveth has one place where he was born
And mine is Kenya, so warm and wild and free
You'll always stay with me here in my heart
My land is Kenya, right from your highlands to the sea
You'll always stay with me here in my heart, here in my heart.

You only got one childhood and the memories that spring
When you see your house, the tree you climbed and all those precious things
The faces of the friends I had the images that flow
When I close my eyes in the land I love the land I was born
And mine is Kenya, so warm and wild and free
You'll always stay with me here in my heart
My land is Kenya, right from your highlands to the sea
You'll always stay with me here in my heart, here in my heart.

I Don't Believe In If Anymore

Now if you load your rifle right and if you fix your bayonet so
And if you kill that man my friend the one we call the foe
And if you do it often lad and if you do it right
You'll be a hero overnight you'll save your country from her plight
Remember God is always right if you survive to see the sight a friend now greeting foe
No you won't believe in If anymore it's an illusion it's an illusion
No you won't believe in If anymore If is for children If is for children building daydreams

If I knew then what I know now I thought I did you know somehow
If I could have the time again I'd take the sunshine leave the rain
If only time would trickle slow like rain that melts the fallen snow
If only Lord if only If only Lord if only
No you won't believe in If anymore it's an illusion it's an illusion
No you won't believe in If anymore If is for children If is for children building daydream

Durham Town

I've got to leave old Durham town I've got to leave old Durham town.
I've got to leave old Durham town and the leavings gonna get me down.

Back in nineteen forty-four I remember Daddy walking out the door.
Mama told me he was going to war he was leaving leaving me.

When I was a boy, I spent my time sitting on the banks of the river Tyne.
Watching all the ships going down the line, they were leaving leaving me.

The last week Mama passed away, good-bye, son, was all she'd say.
There's no cause for me to stay, so I'm leaving leaving free.
