Doom Slayer Testaments

Confucius: “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”
Doom Slayer: Thanks, I'll dig two mass graves in case I lose count

All of the imagery of hell and demons in Doom and Doom Eternal is based on Dante’s Inferno, the first part of The Divine Comedy. If you want to learn more about it then feel free to read on.

The Divine Comedy written by Dante Alighieri in the year 1320, is where most of the iconic imagery and depictions of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven originated from. Not only within popular culture, but also within the church as well. The Divine Comedy is separated into three parts, Inferno (commonly known as Dante’s Inferno), Purgatorio (Italian for Purgatory), and Paradiso (Italian for Paradise or Heaven). And to summarize the content of the entire trilogy, you are reading the first person account of a man named Dante as he journeys body and soul through limbo, hell, purgatory, and finally heaven. The story begins with Dante's Inferno, where we are given a very brief description of our main character, Dante.

In this quasi-biblically inspired fictional story, Dante is a rather well known poet living in Rome Italy in the year 1300. At 35 years of age, Dante began losing interest in the poetry which he loved so dearly. Eventually becoming stuck altogether, almost feeling as though he was unable to even collect his thoughts anymore. After 35 years of growing up here, he had come to witness both the Catholic Church and political scene as a whole, grow increasingly corrupt. Dante, having been born and raised catholic himself, slowly started to become more and more spiritually lost with each passing year. Additionally, the immense amount of corruption found in both the church and political scene at the time, made it difficult for anyone to voice their honest opinion to the public in regards to practically any social issues that came to light. Watching the flame that was his passion slowly begin to grow dim, Dante became deeply distraught. Finally, lost in his own thoughts and feelings, Dante decides to take a walk in a nearby forest to help clear his mind.  It was very late at night when Dante set out into the forest. As he walked through the dense woods, his thoughts began to flow more freely. Wandering deeper still into the woods, Dante started to think about one of the things that weighed heavily on his mind, and that was the fact that today was a Catholic holy day known as "Holy Thursday" (the day that Jesus Christ held the last supper with his 12 apostles) and in just a few hours it would be "Good Friday" (the day that Jesus Christ was crucified). For practicing Catholics, these aforementioned holy days are supposed to be a time dedicated to self-reflection and reconciliation. However, for Dante, these holy days had begun to hold less and less importance with each passing year. While witnessing the world around him only grow more corrupt, Dante had a hard time finding the mental strength to even care about such things as "holy days". Now unbeknownst to Dante who was still far too busy being trapped by his own thoughts, in a place beyond human understanding, the Virgin Mary (the Mother of Jesus Christ)  (symbolic of compassion) and Saint Lucia (symbolic of illuminating Grace) had seen Dante's struggle grow more and more debilitating as the years went on. Finally, having been moved by witnessing his spiritual trials and tribulations slowly build up to their breaking point, the Virgin Mary and Saint Lucia decide to ask God to help Dante get his life back on the right path, and God graciously hears and answers their prayers. Meanwhile, as Dante wanders deeper into the dark forest, his surroundings quickly become less and less familiar. On top of this, Dante inexplicably begins to feel very tired, and suddenly collapses from exhaustion. When he finally awakens from his involuntary slumber, he looks around and suddenly, the only thing he knows for certain is that he is very lost. Little did he know that in just a hour or so, Dante would find himself at the gates to hell, with an unexpected but much appreciated companion by his side, ready to start his journey into the depths of hell. "And so Virgil my guide, lead me through the gates of hell upon which was inscribed ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER... Now having passed through the gates, my journey had truly begun."

Now then, it should be noted that the appearance of such imagery and ideas within the church itself mainly stems from the common man’s conflation of the religiously inspired writings of Dante’s Inferno, with the actual teachings and sparse biblical depictions of hell. This widespread adoption of the non canonical imagery and ideas discussed by Dante is assumed to have occurred solely because of the aforementioned scarce number of depictions of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven within the Bible itself. And so as such, The Divine Comedy helped to quickly fill the gaps in mind of the common man, giving him a “true” perception of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, allowing it to exist concretely in the thoughts of the common man as both a physical and spiritual realm in a way it never had before. The nine circles of hell, the beasts of the nine circles, the city of Dis, the lakes of blood, the fire, the demons, the Titans, the gates of hell itself (upon which is inscribed the phrase “Abandon all hope, ye who enter.”), our perception of hell going down into the depths, our perception of Purgatory, our perception of Angels, our perception of Heaven, and countless more, all of these things as we envision them in our minds today come from The Divine Comedy. Before the creation of Dante’s Inferno and The Divine Comedy as a whole, there had been many writings which only lightly bantered with the ideas and imagery of hell, most if not all of which were ultimately unsuccessful in capturing the mind of the common man. However, it was not until Dante Alighieri wrote The Divine Comedy, which was, in truth, a platform for Dante at the time that allowed for a discussion of a great many subjects of the utmost importance, thereby widening its range of topics and increasing its variety of characters and contents. Subjects that if discussed in writing at the time due to their sensitive nature, would have most likely gotten the writer killed. Namely Dante’s bitter denunciations of Florentine and Italian politics. However, such topics were skillfully included by Dante, thanks to his ingenious delineation of the characters he encounters in Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise, as well as his powerful poetic imagination. Dante's use of real characters in The Divine Comedy, allows Dante the freedom of not having to involve the reader in description. Additionally, the very title of his work The Divine Comedy was a controversy in and of itself. Dante called the work "Comedy" because poems in the ancient world were classified as High ("Tragedy") or Low ("Comedy"). Low poems had happy endings and were written in everyday language, whereas High poems were exclusively devoted to more serious matters and were written in an elevated style. Dante was one of the first in the Middle Ages to write of a serious subject, the Redemption of humanity, in the low and "vulgar" Italian language and not the Latin that one might expect for such a serious topic. So as you can see, The Divine Comedy not only captivated the common man with its vivid depictions of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, but also with its highly controversial denunciations of the powers that be. And perhaps most importantly, it successfully reached the masses because of Dante's brilliant decision to write the poem in the language of the common man. The Divine Comedy became one of the greatest works of world literature ever created, and truthfully, this is precisely the accolade this poem deserves.

I like how they made him sound like some type of immortal beast that lives to slaughter and kill everyone and everything that calls hell home, a Hell Walker that reached a point in life where the savagery wasn’t just his mission, it was his life, his existence, it took a Titan to even be a challenge to him, and yet even one who was revered as a Lord amongst the demon was broken by him, he was pure rage. Only by trapping him could they beat him There's a detail in here that gives more praise to the Slayer's strength than it seems at a glance: "The Hell Walker sought prey in the tombs of the Blood Keep, and blinded by his fervor, the lure drew him in. The priests brought down the temple upon the Doom Slayer, and in his defeat entombed him in the cursed sarcophagus." Now, if the temple is designed like I'm thinking it is, the tombs would be UNDER the temple. So the only way for them to actually stop the Slayer long enough to achieve anything was to literally crush him with an entire CATHEDRAL. And, of course, HE STILL SURVIVES IT.

In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him... the Doom Slayer.

Tempered by the fires of Hell, his iron will remained steadfast through the passage that preys upon the weak. For he alone was the Hell Walker, the Unchained Predator, who sought retribution in all quarters, dark and light, fire and ice, in the beginning and the end, and he hunted the slaves of Doom with barbarous cruelty; for he passed through the divide as none but demon had before.
And in his conquest against the blackened souls of the doomed, his prowess was shown. In his crusade, the seraphim bestowed upon him terrible power and speed, and with his might he crushed the obsidian pillars of the Blood Temples. He set forth without pity upon the beasts of the nine circles. Unbreakable, incorruptible, unyielding, the Doom Slayer sought to end the dominion of the dark realm. The age of his reckoning was uncounted.

The scribes carved his name deep in the tablets of Hell across eons, and each battle etched terror in the hearts of the demons. They knew he would come, as he always had, as he always will, to feast on the blood of the wicked. For he alone could draw strength from his fallen foes, and ever his power grew, swift and unrelenting. None could stand before the horde but the Doom Slayer. Despair spread before him like a plague, striking fear into the shadow-dwellers, driving them to deeper and darker pits.

But from the depths of the abyss rose The Great One, a champion mightier than all who had come before. The Titan, of immeasurable power and ferocity. He strode upon the plain and faced the Doom Slayer, and a mighty battle was fought on the desolate plains. The Titan fought with the fury of the countless that had fallen at the Doom Slayer's hand, but there fell the Titan, and in his defeat the shadow horde were routed. And in his terrible rancor between worlds and through time, the Hell Walker found the wretch who shall not be named, but in his heresy was loyal to his evil cause. The wretch adorned the Doom Slayer in a mighty armor, wrought in the forges of Hell, impenetrable and unyielding. With sword and shield of adamantine strength, the Doom Slayer set to banishing all that were left unbroken by his savagery to the void. Yet as the mighty Titan fell and dread engulfed the armies of Doom, the demon priests of the Blood Temples laid a trap to capture this scourge of Hell. Insatiable, even by the vanquishing of the Great One, the Hell Walker sought prey in the tombs of the Blood Keep. And blinded by his fervor, the lure drew him in. The priests brought down the temple upon the Doom Slayer, and in his defeat entombed him in the cursed sarcophagus. The mark of the Doom Slayer was burned upon his crypt, a warning to all of Hell that the terror within must never be freed. There he lies still, and ever more, in silent suffering.

First meeting the demons.
Doom Slayer: Before I kill the lot of you, answer me this: Do you feel fear?
Demon hoard: 'ROARS'
Doom Slayer: Let's fix that shall we.

It is our duty, as marines, as slayers, to memorize this entire testament so that if the apocalypse should ever happen, and all this knowledge shall ever be lost to time, we may pass on this tale of the one who chose the path of perpetual torment.

The Doom Slayer Testament

In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. Space marine: I've been through the HERESY known as the warp...
Doom slayer: laughs that's cute baby.... Have you made them... FEAR YOU ?

In the first age, in the first office, when the documents first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the replacements of ink, his soul blistered by the fires of dotmatrix and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual printing. In his ravenous paperjams he found no peace, and with boiling blood he scoured the HP Support seeking vengeance against the dark technicals who had wronged him. He wore the LPT of the print controllers, and those, that tasted the bite of his A4 named him... The doom laser

You know a dude is a badass when the demons themselves named him The Doom Slayer
Just fucking awesome. The demons couldn't kill the Doom Slayer, so their ONLY option was to seal him in a stone coffin. That just shows how badass the slayer was and is.
Okay so lets recap, this dude was so scary that hell itself feared him, and he fell a great titan with a skull so big you can walk through it. THEN a demon gave him some badass armor (probably so he wasn't killed) and went on an even greater rampage where they had to drop a BUILDING on him just to knock him out.

“Incorruptible...”

One word to separate the Doomslayer from Man. Man is weak, we will follow anyone who offers us power. The Doomslayer became a god and broke the shackles of perpetual enslavement by life and mortality. No one could force him to do anything unless he wanted to. The Slayer is pure in his holy quest to save humanity from the forces of hell.
A warning to all of hell that the terror within must never be free you get to be that guy a legitimate walking boss fight.

DOOM Slayer: entombed
Olivia Pierce :  We must keep this contained...
Random Cannon Fodder:  Why?
Olivia Pierce :  Do not question me, I am evil!
Random Cannon Fodder:  Fair enough.
DOOM Slayer:  RIPS AND TEARS
See?  You should always listen to your superiors.  Because you might inadvertently awaken the one thing that even Hell fears.

Demonic testament: "The Seraphim bestowed upon him terrible power and speed, with his might he crushed the obsidian pillars of the Blood Temple."
Demon Workplace's Safety Supervisor: And you guys could benefit from not leaving ammo, gas tanks, the occasional BFG rounds just freely lying around, and let's not forget the Berserk power-ups, what's up with that!? Bad enough that he can yank ammo out of your guts with a chainsaw, you gotta give him a reason to use his fists and legs too!?

Guts and Doomslayer standing next to each other at the gates of hell.
Guts: "Just don't run out of bullets on me"
Doomslayer stares at Guts sword
Doomslayer: "I found swords a bit to slow for my liking."
Demon: He is one Night Sentinel, what’s he gonna do? Flay us?
Doom Slayer: I can do much worse than flay you alive. Cocks his shotgun

Testament 1: During the time of technology, times when humans sought to to create more powerful weaponry. The Humans with their own wicked experiments, opened a gateway to the underworld and the dark creatures finally were awakened, they slaughtered all the humans, breaking their bones, ripping their flesh, and drinking their blood. Soon a man came, this was no ordinary man, as he possessed terrible power and speed. The creatures of the underworld could not defeat this man as his wicked strength surpassed their own. No demon ever survived the grasp of his iron fists, he tore, he ripped, and he tested his way across the wicked. Soon he met the Bruiser brothers, these brothers were bloodthirsty and had incredible strength and power, but even they fell to the hands of this man. He tore the heads of the bothers and continued his path of DOOM.

TESTAMENTS 2: After slaying the Bruiser brothers, this man was still out for the wicked and still took the path of Doom. He met new and much more incredible foes, but nothing seemed to stop this mans power. Stories of this man starting spreading across the dark landscapes of hell. This was the first time, that the underworld finally found a worthy opponent. As he made cleared his way through the wicked, he finally came to what seemed to be his final challenge. He went to tallest tower he had ever seen. The Tower of Babel was awaiting his arrival. As he entered the the Tower, he met the gargantuan Shadow lord, the biggest creature he had ever met. The shadow lord was ruthless, merciless, and wicked. This lord was as tall as a tower, bones of metal, and he was merciless. A great battle took place on top of the Tower of Babel, but no matter how powerful the shadow lord was, he still fell to the power of this man. The shadow lord was torn apart in that battle. That day the shadow lord met his Doom. However this man didn’t stop there, he jumped down into the fires of hell and this time he was bringing the Doom to the Underworld.

TESTAMENTS 3: As he brought the path of Doom to hell itself, he was filled with anger and uncontrollable rage. The wicked fell to his power like never before, some feared him, and some even saw him as their own God. He wrecked , he ripped, and he teared his way through the fires of the underworld. There he finally met his final opponent. He met the mighty Empress, the commander of the underworld, the empress that masterminded the invasion of hell in the first place. The Empress was ruthless and she wanted nothing more than to turn this man into broken pieces of bone and flesh. The final battle took place, as this man and the Mighty Empress faced each other and fought in a bloody and ruthless battle. The Mighty Empress was strong, but even the commander of hell’s armies was no match against this mans iron fists and his rage. The Mighty Empress fell to the ground, defeated and broken into nothing but pieces of raw flesh. Finally this man had saved his world from damnation. He was finally at peace, hell’s armies surrendered back in fear. This man was too tough for hell to contain, as no demon ever survived his wrath. The Shadow lord fell and so did the Mighty Empress. As this man went back to his beautiful lands, he saw that his first battle was only the end of the beginning, as the underworld had finally attacked his people and his world. They killed his loved ones and spread their fires across his land. This was just the beginning of his path of Doom. His fight against the underworld was ETERNAL.

Imp: Standing on a crate.
Doom Slayer: I'm about to end this man's whole career

The Doom Slayer was the leader of the protectors of a land known as Argent D'Nur, until he betrayes them in exchange for the resurrection of his dead son, who ended up being brought back as the icon of sin. The land would then be consumed and became Hell's energy resource for traversing across dimensions. Enraged by the destruction of Argent D'Nur and the betrayal of the Devil, the Doom Slayer nearly tore all of Hell down as he defeated countless waves of demons (even defeating Hell's most powerful champion, the Titan) his advanced Praetor Suit being enhanced by a demon known only as a "wretch". After unknown eons, the Doom Slayer was sealed away in an enchanted sarcophagus until he was collected by UAC Mars Director Dr. Samuel Hayden, keeping him sealed in his private labs as they reverse-engineered his equipment.

Demons: "please don t open it!"
Humans: "What about i do it anyway?"
Doom Slayer Inside it: " IT S CALLED THE HOLY BIBLE AND YOU GUYS GODDAMN ARE GONNA NEED IT "
Demons: I wonder what that barbaric idiot is thinking about
Doomslayer: can I make holy water if I boil the hell out of it?
Rorschach: "None of you seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with you. YOU'RE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!"
Doomslayer: "...that's what I said."

Remember Doom guy was the Original John Wick his bunny daisy was killed by the demons and he went full berserk killing all of hell for it but I don’t know about the new DOOM but I hope thats canon cause ya know the original Slayer of the Boogeyman has to be given credit to the one
Imagine if The Boogeyman were an actual being that had slaughtered you grandparents NEARLY TO EXTINCTION and was only stopped when The Vatican had been sacrificed to knock it unconscious.
And then a race of odd monkey-people from a far off planet find the sarcophagous of your nightmares and set it free. I'd be pissed at the humans too.
So I'm just gonna point this out, although it would make him seem more bad ass, he was not naked guys. if you listen it says he was a Night Sentinel, which later we learn(DOOM Eternal) is one of the highest ranks you can earn amongst the Sentinels. he bore armor like that of the spirits you see in the game that help Doom Slayer. He fought and killed the Titan, but I will tell you. the armor did absolutely nothing to help him. The Slayers rage and the need for vengeance is what helped him fell the Titan. His anger is that powerful to not only destroy Hell, but he is almost as powerful as what God would be in that game.

Who disturbs my slumber? Know this.  Only one may enter here.  One whose worth lies far within.  A diamond in the rough.Seek thee out, the diamond in the rough.Who disturbs my slumber? Proceed.  Touch nothing but the lamp. Infidels! You have touched the forbidden treasure. Now you will never again see the light of day

pulls up to McDonalds

2 sum it up a badass went through a portal 2 hell killed a shit ton of demons so someone noticed how he hate demons n they didn't like them either so they gave him even more power the he knocked down a shit ton of buildings killing more powerful demons causing them 2 hide more until the toughest guys there got pissed off enough that he picked a fight with the slayer then died later the slayer got  badass armor that made him more badass eventually he got 2 cocky n some assholes decided 2 drop a building on him which knocked him out then buried him alive n hoped he didn't get out

Alright! I finally understand the concept now. The corrupt systems hurt my loved ones in very bad ways which is why I have been vengeful. There are times when we are all suffering from infighting and torn by heartbreak which is why justice, enlightenment, democracy, and independence is our new way of life. Our friends are better that way too. The one true and undeniable fact that about me that not a normal person would have been able to handle about it being in real life is that I was LITERALLY born at the Gates of Hell. That is why I prefer to be impeached and overthrown by very special kinds of friendships and families that will stand together to bring true peace to all because that is how I prefer to spend the rest of my days rather than be controlled by the complacent, looked down upon as a disappointment to be condemned just because expectations are not met, or denied the right to be accepted for who I am without any ground rules to follow or any price to pay. That is my will from now on.

That's like Christianity for the demons of Hell.  Human killed Jesus and bury him too.  Like Jesus, Doom Guy is resurrected.  Demons valued strength and violence, so I bet there is a cult for the Doom slayer in Hell Meanwhile, God's like "LOL who cares if I pissed him off? What's he gonna do..come up here and start shit? He Is BuT oNe MaN!11"
If you were playing as a generic soldier in the game or something, the game would treat the forces of Hell like they were literally the end of the fucking world and everything. They would be treated like the literal unstoppable, and treat the world around you like a hopeless wreck only waiting for destruction from Hell's wrath. But, because you play as the Doom Slayer, the game treats the forces of Hell like training dummies.
